An applicant spreadsheet, a profile PDF and an attached resume are different outputs. Before exporting LinkedIn applicants, decide whether your team needs a list to track applications, the CV documents submitted by candidates, or records in an applicant tracking system. Then choose a workflow supported by your LinkedIn account.

This guide is written by Waslio, the maker of Resume Downloader for LinkedIn Hiring. Our extension handles accessible resume attachments on Hiring and Hiring Pro applicant pages. LinkedIn Recruiter has its own export features; the extension does not run in Recruiter or Recruiter Lite.

What LinkedIn Recruiter exports

LinkedIn’s official bulk applicant export documentation describes an XLSX export from the Applicants tab, with applicant, job and application information. Its PDF option creates profile documents, including public profile information and team activity. Check the resulting document rather than assuming it is the candidate’s original resume attachment.

The same documentation describes Apply Connect for direct ATS synchronization. If your team already has a supported integration, ask its owner how applicants and documents arrive in the ATS before adding another export process. This article does not promise those Recruiter features in Hiring Pro or every LinkedIn subscription.

What a Hiring resume export gives you

On a supported Hiring or Hiring Pro applicant list, Waslio’s extension saves the resumes your signed-in account can access and creates index.csv. The index links applicant names, filenames and file statuses. It is a companion to the downloaded documents, not a copy of Recruiter’s XLSX report.

Choose individual PDFs or a ZIP containing the files and index. For a larger batch, individual PDFs use less browser memory. To see the actual steps, follow our LinkedIn applicant resume download guide.

Opening the CSV in Excel does not turn it into a full applicant database. An index row can point to a local file, but it does not automatically upload that file to an ATS or provide screening answers that were not exported. Inspect the available columns before planning the handoff.

A six-check handoff from files to your hiring system

  1. Identify the source job. Keep the job reference and export date with the batch so a reviewer can trace the documents.
  2. Keep the original index. Make a working copy for added reviewer or import columns; preserve the export’s status information.
  3. Separate file status from review status. A downloaded file has not necessarily been reviewed. A missing attachment is not a rejected application.
  4. Check your ATS’s import specification. Determine which fields are required, how applications are linked to jobs, and whether document upload is a separate step.
  5. Verify a small authorized sample. Confirm that the intended application and correct document stay together. Do not match different applicants solely because their names are similar.
  6. Reconcile the result. Record completed imports and exceptions before processing the remaining batch. Keep a named owner for unresolved records.

For example, a fictional batch might contain 30 index rows and 27 saved files. Check the three remaining statuses before deciding anything is missing from the hiring pipeline. The gap might reflect unavailable attachments, interrupted downloads or a different selected list. File count alone does not tell you which explanation is right.

For folder naming, duplicates and reviewer assignment, continue with organizing downloaded applicant resumes. If the export itself fails, use the resume download troubleshooting checklist.

Common export questions

Can I export LinkedIn applicants to Excel?

LinkedIn Recruiter documents an XLSX applicant export. For Waslio’s supported Hiring workflow, the download includes a CSV file index you can open in Excel. These exports have different fields and purposes.

Does saving a profile as PDF download the attached CV?

Do not assume that it does. A generated profile document and an uploaded resume are different artifacts. Open a sample and confirm it contains the document your team needs.

Can the CSV replace an ATS integration?

No. A local file index does not by itself create applicant records, upload documents or keep later changes synchronized. Use the import or integration process supported by your ATS.

Need the attached resumes from a Hiring job? See Waslio’s bulk resume downloader, supported pages and current plans. Use it only with applicant attachments you are authorized to access. Product documentation and LinkedIn’s export guidance checked on 15 October 2026.
