To find an applicant’s resume from a LinkedIn job, first check where that job collects applications. Easy Apply keeps the application process on LinkedIn; an external Apply button sends the applicant to a company website or job board. If your organisation uses a connected applicant tracking system (ATS), an application submitted on LinkedIn can also be delivered there. Start with the application route, not the download button.
This guide is for employers locating CVs for a job they manage. It is not a guide to downloading your own resume or saving someone’s LinkedIn profile as a PDF.
Check the application route for the exact job
Open the live job listing and check its application button. Then confirm the destination configured for that vacancy with the colleague or agency that published it. Similar job titles can have different application routes, so use your internal job reference as well as the title.
LinkedIn’s application guidance distinguishes Easy Apply from Apply: the latter directs applicants to an external website or job board. That tells you where the application starts, but you should still check whether your organisation has configured an ATS connection.
- Easy Apply, managed in LinkedIn Hiring or Hiring Pro
- Start with the employer-side applicant list for that job. Open the relevant application and check for an accessible CV attachment.
- Apply on a company website or job board
- Start in the receiving recruitment system. A job being advertised on LinkedIn does not mean the documents submitted elsewhere are available to a LinkedIn browser extension.
- A LinkedIn application connected to an ATS
- Check the destination job and candidate record in the ATS. Ask your administrator which system is the record of truth before creating a second, manual copy of the application.
Easy Apply does not always mean “LinkedIn only”
Some employers receive on-platform applications through a supported ATS integration. LinkedIn’s Apply Connect documentation describes delivery of job applications to a partner’s system, including attachment information when supplied. This is a separate integration workflow, not a feature of Waslio Resume Downloader.
If your administrator confirms that such a connection is active, check the receiving job record before exporting files manually. Record any delivery problem for that administrator rather than repeatedly importing the same person. Do not assume your organisation has this connection simply because it uses an ATS.
Look for the submitted CV, not a profile PDF
A LinkedIn profile and an applicant’s CV are different documents. A profile PDF is produced from profile information; it is not proof that you have retrieved the attachment supplied for a particular application. See LinkedIn’s profile-PDF guidance for that separate feature.
Check the application itself for the submitted document. LinkedIn describes several resume-upload routes, so do not assume every profile, application or advertised vacancy includes a CV attachment. If a required document is absent, follow your organisation’s approved candidate-contact process. Do not substitute a generated profile PDF and label it “the applicant’s resume”.
Where Resume Downloader fits—and where it does not
Waslio Resume Downloader supports employer applicant lists in LinkedIn Hiring and Hiring Pro. It saves accessible CV attachments as numbered PDFs or a ZIP, with an index.csv of applicant names, filenames and file status.
It does not support Recruiter, Recruiter Lite, profile search or applications held only on an external careers site. It does not recover unavailable attachments, pull documents from your ATS or create a native ATS connection.
Platform-policy note: LinkedIn prohibits third-party tools that scrape, modify or automate its website and warns of account restrictions. Access to a CV, local processing or Chrome Web Store availability does not establish LinkedIn permission. Prefer native exports or approved integrations where available.
For a supported applicant page, the existing download guide explains the export controls. If the button or attachment is missing, use the troubleshooting checklist rather than assuming every application route is supported.
Check the record before handing files to a reviewer
Use this short handoff check after locating the application:
- Confirm the vacancy. Match the application to the correct job reference, not just a familiar title.
- Confirm the source. Note whether the document came from a LinkedIn application, your ATS or another authorised application system.
- Confirm the document. Open it and check that it is the intended CV, not a profile export or a different application’s attachment.
- Record exceptions. Keep an unavailable document separate from a technical export failure. Neither is a screening decision.
- Share through the approved workspace. Use your organisation’s access and retention rules instead of creating a public folder of applicant files.
For example, a hiring team might receive applications for one vacancy through LinkedIn and another through its careers site. Checking both job configurations first avoids searching the wrong system or asking a downloader to retrieve documents it cannot access. This is an illustrative workflow, not a customer result.
Choose the next step for your application route
If the application is already in your ATS, use that system’s native document and review workflow. If you need to assess a LinkedIn Hiring export, check Resume Downloader’s supported pages and limitations before installing it. For a mixed spreadsheet-and-file handoff, read the guide to applicant lists versus resume files.
