A LinkedIn profile PDF is generated from profile information. An applicant resume is a document the person supplied with an application. If you need the CV attached to a job application, saving a profile as a PDF does not retrieve that original attachment.
Two documents that can both be called a “resume”
Searches such as “download LinkedIn resume” can describe different tasks. Before choosing a tool, decide whether you want a readable copy of a profile or the file submitted for a particular job.
| Question | Profile PDF | Applicant resume attachment |
|---|---|---|
| Where does the content come from? | The member’s LinkedIn profile information. | A file supplied by the applicant. |
| What task does it fit? | Reading a snapshot of profile information. | Reviewing the document associated with an application. |
| Is it necessarily the same document? | No. It is not a copy of an uploaded CV. | No. Its wording and layout can differ from the profile. |
| Does Waslio Resume Downloader create it? | No. Profile export is outside its supported workflow. | It downloads accessible attachments from supported Hiring applicant pages. |
“PDF” describes a file format, not its origin. A generated profile PDF and a submitted CV can both be PDFs while containing different information.
If you want a profile PDF
LinkedIn documents a desktop Save to PDF option in a profile’s introduction menu, under More or Resources where available. Its profile PDF instructions describe language and availability limits, so check the current help page if the option is missing.
Use that workflow for a profile snapshot. Do not label the result “the CV submitted for this job” unless you have independently verified the actual application document. The person may have tailored an application differently from their profile.
Waslio’s extension does not add a profile-to-PDF feature or export general LinkedIn profile searches.
If you need the resume submitted with an application
Start from the job’s applicant view, using an account authorized to access that application. LinkedIn’s resume visibility guidance explains that a resume uploaded while applying is shared with that hirer. This does not make every member’s uploaded resume a public profile download.
For a job you manage in LinkedIn Hiring or Hiring Pro, first open one applicant and check that the resume attachment is accessible. Waslio Resume Downloader works from those supported applicant lists, using the browser session already signed in.
The bulk applicant resume download guide explains installation, the download button and the result on disk. For a chosen subset, check the filtered applicant export workflow before starting.
If a profile exists but the attachment is missing
A viewable profile does not establish that your job application has an attached CV. Check the application itself and its export status. If the attachment is absent, a profile PDF is a different document, not a repair for that missing file.
Record the exception accurately. If your hiring process calls for requesting a CV, use your team’s normal candidate communication process. Avoid substituting a profile snapshot silently: reviewers should know which source they are assessing.
If you can open the attachment manually but it repeatedly fails to download, follow the download troubleshooting checklist. A technical failure and an unavailable attachment need different next steps.
If you have many applicants to review
Waslio can download available attached resumes across a supported job’s applicant list, with individual PDFs or ZIP batches and a CSV index. It does not require you to turn each profile into a new document.
Keep the output associated with the correct job and export date. Compare individual PDFs and ZIP batches for your review workflow, then retain the index so reviewers can locate documents and understand exception statuses.
The extension does not support LinkedIn Recruiter, Recruiter Lite or profile search. It does not expand account permissions, uncover private CVs or replace the import requirements of an ATS.
A quick decision checklist
- Need a copy of profile information? Check LinkedIn’s own profile PDF option.
- Need the original application CV? Open the job’s applicant record and confirm that attachment is accessible.
- Need several accessible attachments from Hiring? Review Waslio’s supported workflow and try a small export.
- Need an Excel list or an ATS handoff? Read applicant spreadsheets versus resume files before choosing an export.
Use only the records you are authorized to access, and keep downloaded documents in the storage your hiring process approves. For the extension’s own data handling, see its privacy policy.
